I was born to parents Marty and Vanna on February 21, 1998. I was used in medical research until 2002 when I was among the 266 chimpanzees rescued by Save the Chimps from the Coulston Foundation. Today I am a high-ranking member of Seve’s family. I get along well with everyone in the group but have especially close friendships with JR, Scrappy, Wade, Apollo, and Yvette.
I love to make noise, especially at mealtime by banging on the windows, or taking toys and banging them loudly on the floor or benches. The rest of the family gets involved in such activities and we all have a fun time. If you hear any banging from outside Seve’s building, there’s a fair amount of certainty that it’s mealtime.
I am a chimps’ chimp, meaning I’m not overly interactive with my human caregivers, but once I get to know them, I will play from time to time. I love going outside and can often be seen exploring the island with my friends, or just relaxing on a shady platform during the heat of the day. I’m grateful that I’m able to spend my days in sanctuary experiencing the love, freedom, and companionship that I deserve.
