(USATF Course Certification #FL15009EBM)
There is no other race like it in the world!
At 7:30 am on April 14, 2019, hundreds of racers will begin this unique course at the Saint Lucie County Fairgrounds and then head north through the front gate, run or walk three stories up a wide circular pedestrian ramp, enjoying panoramic views of Florida’s citrus fields as they cross an aerial sidewalk (called “the bridge to nowhere” by locals), and circle back down a ramp to the Okeechobee Bike Path on the other side.
The course turns north again along South Header Canal Road before it turns east in to Save the Chimps – the world’s largest privately funded sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees – at mile 4. While in the sanctuary you will enjoy the sights and sounds of nearly 250 chimpanzees as you pass their twelve island homes. Save the Chimps is closed to the public, making this a unique opportunity.
After a completing a 1-1/2 mile lap around the sanctuary, racers return to the Saint Lucie County Fairgrounds and cross the finish to the cheers of supporters and volunteers.
