5th Annual CHIMPATHON 16K
April 14, 2019
This unique course takes you through Save the Chimps – one of the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuaries, located in Fort Pierce, Florida. Enjoy hearing the wonderful sounds of pant hoots and watching the chimpanzees roam as you run beside their island homes. Registration is limited to 700 participants, out of consideration for our sanctuary residents.
Over 2,000 participants joined us over the last four years, raising over $165,000 to benefit the nearly 250 rescued chimpanzees residing at Save the Chimps. Let’s make this year even better!
100% of all dollars raised directly benefit our nearly 250 chimpanzee residents!
It’s not just the course that makes Chimpathon special!
***Photos above represent items from Chimpathon 2018. We will update the site with 2019’s items soon. Every registrant will receive a Chimpathon t-shirt, and a goodie bag filled with an assortment of donated giveaways. Each finisher will receive a collectible Chimpathon medal.
Chimpathon athletes who finish in the top three overall spots and at the top of their age divisions will receive trophies featuring original chimpanzee artwork – priceless!
Why is our course 16K long?
One more thing that makes Chimpathon so unique is the fact that it is 16k. This is symbolic of the $16,000 annual cost to care for one chimpanzee at Save the Chimps.
