Welcome to Save the Chimps’ Meet the Families page.

Save the Chimps, the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary, cares for nearly 300 chimpanzees rescued from research laboratories, entertainment and the pet trade.

Here you will find a list of each of our beloved family groups as well as the original 21 Air Force Family rescued in 2001, the chimps in New Mexico who are next in line to move to Florida, and all the chimps who have passed while living in sanctuary.

Simply click on the photo or name to see a complete list of the members within that group. Introductions are ongoing and dynamics within the family groups sometimes change therefore so do the members. That being said, you may revisit this page and notice a new family name, new members within a certain group or a change in the groups personality description.

We hope you enjoy meeting our wonderful residents.

Remember you can help support the chimps by sponsoring their meals, adopting a chimp or simply making a donation.

On behalf of all the chimps, thank you for your compassion!
