Jordan was born January 24, 1994 to mother Jacqueline and father Hanzie on Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, NM. Jordan was born by C-section, and he was never seen or held by his mother. He was raised in the nursery by humans, and underwent two surgeries before he was two years old—one to remove an unidentified mass from his chest, and one to repair an inguinal hernia. When he was old enough, he joined a small group of chimps which included Minnie (a former space chimp), her daughter Lil Mini (one of the first residents of Save the Chimps and now a member of Tanya’s Family), Rebecca (also a member of Tanya’s Family), Angelica (a member of Bobby’s Family), Belinda (a member of Rufus’ Family), and Kitty (a resident of Black Beauty Ranch in Texas, and mother to STC residents Gabriella and Renquist.) In 1997, Jordan was transferred to The Coulston Foundation (TCF), a research lab in Alamogordo, NM, when the Air Force awarded custody of its chimpanzees to TCF. Fortunately for Jordan, he was never assigned to a biomedical research protocol. On September 16, 2002, Jordan was rescued when Save the Chimps took over TCF. On April 23, 2007 Jordan traveled from NM to Save the Chimps in Florida, and has been loving island life ever since. He is a member of Ron’s Group, and enjoys the companionship of many other energetic chimps, like Connor, Kramer, Melody, and Marlon.
