Casey stares out of his window on his trip from New Mexico to Florida.

The construction of our Florida Sanctuary is now complete - 11 new buildings, 11 new islands and a water treatment plant. So the largest single 'save' of captive chimpanzees has become the largest move ever.

So far we have moved over 60 chimpanzees from New Mexico to Florida. We first used a 'box van' - a regular van with an oversized back. There were two window seats in the van and the chimps rarely stopped looking out the windows during their move to Florida.

We could have continued to move three chimps at a time this way, but with over 200 more to make the trip, moving the rest of the chimps from New Mexico to Florida with the old box van would translate into 83 very expensive trips.

It turned out to be much more economical to have a trailer built that can accommodate up to 10 chimps at a time resulting in only 27 trips. A 38-foot trailer complete with air conditioning, a furnace and a window seat for each chimp is now how we hit the road. The trailer will be traveling over 100,000 miles to accomplish the task - the equivalent of driving around the Earth four times!

The largest rescue effort on behalf of chimpanzees, EVER, has now become the largest-ever relocation. The chimps, many of whom have spent decades in cell-like dungeons, will be traveling to Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, Florida — the largest permanent chimpanzee sanctuary in the world. Once in Florida, they will live on islands in the sun, where they will be able to run, climb, play and be themselves.

Over the course of the next couple of years, more than 200 chimpanzees from the former Coulston facility in New Mexico will travel to their new homes at Save the Chimps in Florida.

By pledging 61¢ per mile, you can help Bobby, Nuri, Fergus, Ethyl, Spock, Scarlett and many others make this amazing and precident setting journey.

$2,400 will sponsor a round trip between New Mexico and Florida, bringing ten chimpanzees to their new home and returning for more!

$1,200 will sponsor a one way trip of the Save the Chimps trailer from New Mexico to Florida, bringing ten chimpanzees to their new home!

$500 will sponsor 820 miles of a trip!

$250 will sponsor 410 miles of a trip!

$5,000 or More. These very special donors will receive the title of "Honorary Driver." No, you can't really drive the truck, but your name will be placed on a special plaque at our Florida sanctuary once all of the chimps have reached their new homes!
