The United States is the last large-scale user of chimpanzees in biomedical research in the world. Today nearly 1000 chimpanzees remain in research laboratories in the US. Save the Chimps is all too familiar with the experiences of chimpanzees used in biomedical research. That’s why we support the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act (GAPCSA).

Our favorite childhood staple is also a favorite of the chimps! They never get tired of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but with so many chimps it seems as though we can never keep enough peanut butter or jelly on the shelves. Between lunchtime sandwiches and enrichment devices, we go through about 60 lbs of peanut butter per week, and 30 lbs of jelly.
On February 2, 2012 we announced our Gatorade Challenge - our campaign to receive a years supply of powered Gatorade which translates to 365 containers.
Our February 29th, we did our final count of in-kind donations for the month and in total, we received 367!!!!

One company is still dismissive of chimpanzee well-being: CareerBuilder. Protest the CareerBuilder commercial with chimps will air during the Super Bowl on February 5, 2012.
